Lennar announced the purchase of 120 home sites at The Cascades. It is located at the Southern Hills Plantation, just east of Hwy 41 in Brooksville, Florida. In the article I read, a spokesperson said that the Cascades had purchased twenty three foreclosures in the last six months. Of the twenty three, they have been able to resell thirteen of them. They see this as an early sign of the housing market starting to recover. The article said, Lennar also purchased 162 home sites in the Live Oak Preserve in New Tampa just last month. This development is a 1300 acre site near Bruce B Downs in Tampa. The good news is with Lennar purchasing home sites, construction jobs are sure to follow in the near future. Hernando County’s unemployment is at the highest rate in 35 years. The county’s 15.6 percent unemployment is the second highest in the state of Florida.  The construction jobs that come with the purchase of the home sites will be a welcoming sign to local residents.
