The SB 2210 bill requires that all Appraisal Management Companies (AMC's) that currently operate in the State of Florida must register with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
The bill will now visit the desk of Florida Gov. Charlie Crist for approval.
According to Sarah Martinez, member of the Florida Realtor's Public Policy team, "This legislation not only requires AMCs to register with the state business board, but it also allows the Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board to adopt rules to specify the means by which an appraiser's signature may be affixed to an appraisal report."
The bill will not only require AMC's to register with the DBPR but will also ban appraisers that have lost their license from operating an AMC.
Legislation regulating AMC's has been adopted in 8 other states across the nation and is currently pending in 16 different states.
