I was reminded a few days ago that one of the best kept secrets in he area is that Pasco and Hernando counties are home to one of the largest pigeon racing clubs in the United States. Some even call this area "Little Belgium" because the country of Belgium is know as the pigeon racing capitol of the world.

The Gulf Coast Homing Pigeon Club has over 200 local members who actively participate in pigeon racing here and other Florida locations. There are approximately 20 pidgeon racing clubs in the state.

The birds involved in pigeon racing live pampered lives here in nice looking lofts which in some cases resemble the homes their owners live in.

Pigeon racing in Pasco and Hernando counties is just another one of those secret amenities that we all enjoy.
