You can explore as little as two counties on US Hwy.19 through Hernando and Citrus counties, and see immediately the lack of traffic, no six and eight lane expressways here. Just the Suncoast Parkway running from Hwy 98 in Citrus County to the Tampa International Airport and points between if you need to get out of your relaxation mode. No mega malls until you get into Ocala to the northeast or leaving Hernando County and heading toward Tampa....and Tampa is only 45 miles away from Citrus County. Citrus and Hernando counties still have all you need in the way of shopping with the smaller malls; and, we could talk about restaurants all day. As you can image the seafood is fresh and well prepared, and, that juicy steak is also available as well as many other ethnic delicacies.
If this sounds like a place to call home explore the natural waterways leading to the Gulf of Mexico. Fishing and boatingis abundant on the Homosassa, Crystal, Hall, St. Martin's, Chassahowitzka and Withlaccoochee Rivers. Of course, that does not include the many lakes. In addition, you will find miles of trails for hiking and camping. The only theme parks here are mother natures.....
Did I mention golf....you will also find championship golf courses and beautiful golf communities and water front developments with reasonability priced homes. Some golf communities, such as Sugarmill Woods, Black Diamond, and Pine Ridge have lovely greenbelt areas included in the lots that range from a quarter to two acres. You will find estate homes, golf villas and condos in these areas. Riverhaven, Gospel Island, and many other developments are along the spring feed rivers and lakes many with your own boat dock and/or davit (lift).
