Has the recession changed you for the better or the worse?
September 29, 2009

This recession has changed me as it has many Americans, I’m sure, but I try to think not for the worse but for the better because I believe we learn by studying our past mistakes and this is true not just for us as individuals but as a society and what I have learned from history is that we can and shall overcome any financial or personal problems only by believing in ourselves and our system as a population of people together who all have the same goal in mind.

In other words to be single-minded, just as in a football game, our whole game-plan is to score a touchdown, if we, the team, have the same goal in mind we can’t lose. Unfortunately, we all don’t have the same goal in mind, if everybody wants the ball, even though we all should because what helps the least of us all, will, obviously, also help us, and so we try to protect the quarterback so we can score the goal but without the line blocking for him he hasn’t got much of a chance but with them all blocking out … well, then the goal will be reached and maybe even an extra point.

I am getting on in years and my goal is to get to the Promised Land; no, not the beach, Heaven, and I believe I can do it but only by thinking not just of myself but also of others. In other words what will my actions do for not just myself and my family and friends but for the society in which I live because if you ignore your neighbor long enough he will ignore you back, neither one of you will know anything about the other and when the time comes that you need some help from him, and maybe even to save your life, he will ignore you, as usual, even as you have ignored him.

How does this relate to real estate and mortgages? Well, I believe that if the system changes it can only change for the better if the majority opinion rules. I would say that common sense tells us that the majority of people in America voted for Obama and that the majority also claims to be of the Christian denomination and that that is one of the main reasons that the majority is also in favor of Health Care for all. The health care system in America is broken for too many people but I believe we can change that and at the same time change things for the better. Too many people lose their houses over medical bills. Too many small businesses go under because they can’t afford to pay their employees a high enough salary and medical coverage and so the employees quit to work in a corporate office primarily for the health care coverage.

This is an issue that we can all come together on, as a people and a country and it will benefit us all; white, black, yellow and red and maybe even, when we’re (all) dead, we’ll be able to look down (hopefully) and say: “Look what I helped to do, not just for me but also for you, man look at that, from this distance, man, what a view!

Vote for health care reform for all, tell your elected representative how to vote, if he expects a room with a view, tell him what to do … for you … and for that sick baby down the street whose parents don’t have any heath insurance or money.
