TOUSA, a homebuilder located in Hollywood, Broward County, Florida is in trouble. With only 700 employees left in the company, TOUSA plans to lay off 200 more by May of 2009. Although, TOUSA's base operations are in Broward County, the company builds in nearly 6 different states across the nation, including Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Tennessee ,Texas and of course, Florida.

TOUSA was once known as one of the largest builders in South Florida, but due to the economy and the decline in the housing market, it plans on ceasing its building operations but does plan to continue to attempt to sell off the remaining inventory of homes and land holdings.

Some of the more recognizable companies of TOUSA Homes are Engle Homes, Newmark Homes, Fedrick, Harris Estate Homes and Trophy Homes. According to the news release, customers that have homes that are under construction with the company "can be assured that their homes will be completed."
