Closing Day Doesn't Mean You Will Close
May 2, 2009

It has been a nightmare getting deals to "closing day" to then find out they still won't close on "closing day". We had plenty of time to get our ducks in order, which we did, and we were suppose to close on a Monday. Friday comes and I call to confirm and since it is a USDA loan, they are backlogged since it is a 0% down loan, and they haven't been able to review the package yet. We may be able to close on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I did this in NY and a closing date was a closing date. I can't imagine when we have customers with moving vans what we are going to do. It happens that this buyer is renting and can stay where she is, but what happens if that is not the case. I have a couple of other deals too, that it may be or it may not be the "closing date", and you truly do not know until closing date. Something has to be done. If the lenders need more time, they should tell us, not string us along.

Have a great day and enjoy!
