Be Aware of Foreclosure Fraud in Florida
February 17, 2009

A very sad and devious type of fraud is sweeping the nation!  Foreclosure Fraud can cost you the equity in your home and/or the home itself. As foreclosure becomes more and more frequent, so does this form of robbery.  There are several types of foreclosure fraud; you should always be very cautious and aware, especially when you’re dealing with the loss of your entire life savings, in some cases!

One particular scam involves high fees for basic work, such as phone calls or paperwork that you, the homeowner, could have done yourself.  The thief will then collect your money and provide you with no help what-so-ever and you'll never see him again.

Then there is the thief that will promise to help you sell your home that is in the foreclosure process. The end result will be with the homeowner surrendering the title to the home  in exchange for a promise that they can stay as a renter until the finances are repaired, and then they can buy back the home.  Of course, in the end of all this mess the homeowners can not purchase back the home and the scammers receive all the equity that once belonged to the homeowners.

The next form of scam is the ol' 'bait and switch' method.  In this scam, the homeowners "rescuers" will provide the homeowner with paperwork that is supposedly for a new loan to be used to repair the financial damage that has been done, however, what the poor, unexpecting homeowner is really signing are forged documents that will give their home to these crooks. As an added bonus, the homeowner will still owe the mortgage but will no longer own the home.

Con artists prey on those that are desperate!  Be aware of who you are doing business with. Don't let yourself be victim, although times are hard, always remember that if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
